Yiwu: QR code for export toys

A few days ago, an export company in Yiwu declared to the Yiwu Branch of Zhejiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau for plastic (11045, 105.00, 0.96%) toys to be exported to Taiwan, and the inspectors took a certain amount of plastic toys and sent them to the laboratory for safety Item testing, detected three items that are prone to produce small parts, excessive phthalate (a kind of plasticizer) content, and age warning icon diameter is too small, which may cause children to suffocate during use. Security incident. There are 1,300 cartons in this batch, with a value of 23,680 U.S. dollars. Yiwu Bureau immediately issued a notice of non-conformity based on the inspection situation, prohibiting the export of the batch of commodities. Yiwu toys have always been a category with relatively high export risks. In the foreign notifications received every year, toys accounted for 23.3%, accounting for nearly a quarter. For example, from January to December 10 this year, 90 cases of products purchased and exported from Yiwu market were notified by foreign countries, including 21 batches of toys. The main reasons for the notification were excessive content of phthalate plasticizers, suffocation risks of small parts and cords, and excessive formaldehyde. The more harmful plasticizer is the biggest 'killer' of toy safety: it will not only affect the growth and development of children, but if it accumulates in the body, it will also affect his fertility for many years. Starting this year, Zhejiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has initiated the construction of a quality and safety demonstration zone for purchasing and exporting toys in the Yiwu market. The latest development is the use of QR codes. Nearly 50% of market toy shops have completed QR code registration and filing. 70% of the commodities in Yiwu market are not local products of Yiwu, so it is very difficult to trace the origin of export commodities. Two-dimensional codes can solve this problem. For consumers, by scanning the QR code on the outer packaging of toys, they can immediately understand the raw materials, manufacturers, quality conditions, test results, etc. of these toys. For export companies, the QR code is a pass that facilitates customs clearance and quick release. Since the launch of the Yiwu International Trade Comprehensive Reform Pilot in 2011, the Zhejiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has optimized many regulatory measures and efficiencies to adapt to the pace of Yiwu commodity exports. At present, the order processing cycle for more than 80% of export commodities has been shortened from the original one to two days to less than one hour. As of December 10 this year, there were 90 cases of notifications and recalls of export industrial products involving Yiwu, a decrease of 35% compared with the same period last year.
