France has extended temporary restrictions on the use of formamide in toy puzzle mats. The new law came into effect in December 2016... [Chinese and foreign toy network, March 24, 2017] France extended the temporary restrictions on the use of formamide in toy puzzle mats. The new law came into effect in December 2016. In 2011, France took measures to temporarily restrict the use of formamide in toy puzzle mats. This temporary restriction was extended successively in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 [1]; each extension period is one year. In December 2016, the French Official Gazette (JORF) issued a Decree of December 9, 2016 [2], extending the temporary restriction on the use of formamide in toy puzzle mats to May 23, 2017. However, the limit of not exceeding 200 mg/kg has not been changed. In fact, from May 24, 2017, the European Toy Safety Directive also restricts the use of formamide in toy puzzle mats. In November 2015, we[3] notified the issue of the European Union Directive (EU) 2015/2115. The directive restricts the use of formamide in foam toys under 3 years old and other foam toys that can be put in the mouth. The amendment to Annex C under the EU Directive 2009/48/EU Annex II, the Toy Safety Directive (TSD), will take effect on May 24, 2017. This legislation, which applies to the entire European Union, allows the use of formamide releases as an alternative method. Table 1 summarizes the main points of the new law. >Information provided: SGS Shenzhen Branch (SGS) Contact: Toys and Infant Products Service Shenzhen Tel: +86 (0)755 2532 8315 Qingdao Tel: +86 (0)532 6899 9188 Please pay attention Official WeChat: SGS toy and infant product testing service for more information.
